Do Not Rush The Reading Test

I am not a believer in too many test, but some times we just want to know how our child/ren is doing. I have used the Burt Reading Test in the past and have found it to be a  good indicator of a child’s reading age. It was first used in the 1970′s but has since been revised.  It is a UK based test so some of the spellings may differ from way words are spelt in the US.

Here is a link to Burt Reading Test  and instructions. Full instructions on how to take the reading test are included. Your child should not feel under pressure to take the reading test, so make sure it is completed in an informal manner and you follow the guidelines set out in the Burt Reading Test.
