Children respond well to seeing adults read and other family members reading!
If they see that reading is valued within the family then they are more likely to want to read themselves. If you are reading then it it is more likely that your child will sit beside you and want to read a book or even want you to read to them.
Children need to be encouraged to see books as opening up an entirely new world to them.
